The soap opera of this summer’s transfer market has come to an end. After years of interest, rumors and leaks Kylian Mbappé and Real Madrid have joined their paths.
The white team has made official the incorporation of the French footballer for the next five seasons after Mbappé decided not to renew his contract with PSG.
More news about Real Madrid:
Thus, Real Madrid has finally managed to sign the star who will lead the project, and Mbappé has managed to make his childhood dream come true, after several frustrated attempts.
How many times did Real Madrid try to sign Kylian Mbappé?
The first time Madrid became interested in Mbappé was in the summer of 2017. The Frenchman dazzled all of Europe with Monaco in a sensational season, but the player did not want to leave France and opted to sign for PSG.
In the summer of 2021, Madrid returned to the fray for Mbappé and presented an offer of 200 million euros, which was rejected by PSG. In January the player was entering the last year of his contract, and when everything seemed to be done for him to leave for the white club on a free transfer, he was surprised and announced his renewal. A renewal that, as we have said before, was two years plus one optional and not three.
Mbappé’s letter
In the summer of 2023 it seemed that Mbappé would arrive at Madrid when a letter that the player sent to PSG informing him that he intended to fulfill his contract with the French club was leaked; That is, play the year he had signed but not extend his contract and then leave as a free agent in July 2024 to Real Madrid. And, contrary to what had been said, Mbappé’s last renewal was until 2024 plus an optional year, and not until 2025, as they said at the time.
This completely changed the situation, and as a result of Mbappé’s leaked letter, cross-talk and accusations began between the club and the player. The day he returned to work, the Frenchman showed up at training like the rest of the team, and even had minutes in the first friendly of the preseason. But then another bomb arrived, PSG left Kylian off the squad list for the Asian tour.
Finally, the player stayed the entire season in Paris, once again being the leader of his team.
