The hypothesis had been standing for several months, ever since Flavio Briatore had had several meetings with Formula 1 boss Stefano Domenicali at the end of the 2021 season. But now it has become official: the former boss of Benetton and Renault, who has brought champions like Michael Schumacher and Fernando Alonso to the roof of the world, returns to the Circus. The manger from Cuneo does so this time not as a team manager, but as an ‘Ambassador’ of the same F1. A role that, as Briatore himself explained by formalizing his new post through his Instagram profile, aims to exploit his vast network of contacts and his undisputed ability as an organizer.
“I am happy to be a Formula 1 Ambassador – commented the former F1 area number 1 of the Losanga house, who remained in the saddle until the infamous Crashgate episode in Singapore – this morning the FOA released the following statement: ‘Flavio Briatore, in his capacity as long-time ambassador for Formula 1, will continue to support the Circus in relations with some promoters, existing and potential partners, also developing any commercial and entertainment collaborations’. I am delighted and honored to be able to continue to support the commercial and entertainment development of F1, the sport I love and which has been such an important part of my professional life ”added Briatore.
