Twenty-four hours after the conclusion of the first pre-season test session, theAlpine can now analyze the data obtained at the end second day of testingcharacterized by the absolute on-track debut of Esteban Ocon in this 2022. The French driver, winner of the last Hungarian Grand Prix, ran the entire program today after the work done yesterday by Fernando Alonso, making a total of 124 laps on the Montmeló circuit. Of all these, the 25-year-old set his personal best time by stopping the clock on the1: 22.164equivalent to third to last place in the general classification and made with medium rubber (C3).
In a session characterized by the display of two red flags, Ocon allowed the team to overcome the 250 laps completed during the two days of testing, for a total of 4,655 km traveled on the Catalan track: “Today was my first real day on the A522 – commented the transalpine – and it is certainly a great feeling to be back in a Formula 1 car and completed laps. It was nice to start feeling the car with the right tires under accurate test conditions. The most important goal for us today, as well as yesterday, it was that of stay on track as much as possibleand it was therefore encouraging to overcome 100 laps made. We tested several components, and we focused on some aspects to analyze. We definitely have an idea on some areas that we need to improve, which is the main focus in the pre-season tests. It was a good start – he concluded – and I can’t wait to find out more in tomorrow’s tests ”.
For Friday, the last scheduled in Spain before the second test in Bahrain – between 10 and 12 March – the Alpine will take to the track for the first time with both its drivers: while Fernando Alonso will work in the course in the morning, Ocon will carry out the rest of the session during the afternoon.
