E.in Mann attacked several people with a stabbing weapon in an apartment building in the North Rhine-Westphalian city of Oberhausen. Four people were injured on Thursday evening, as a police spokesman said – at least one of them was life-threatening. The authorities assume a family background. Some of the victims receive intensive care in hospitals.
The alleged perpetrator was arrested in the evening and also injured was taken to a hospital. There are no indications of a terrorist background or other perpetrators, said the police spokesman. Initially, no information was available on the identity of the alleged perpetrator and the victim.
Based on the suspected family background to the crime, one can assume that the alleged perpetrator and the victim knew each other. The spokesman could not definitely confirm an acquaintance.
According to the information, the incident occurred in an apartment building in the Marienviertel district. Around 7 p.m., several emergency calls were made from direct neighbors from the house. The police operation ended around 11:42 p.m. It was also initially unclear whether the alleged perpetrator had previously been noticed by the police. The “Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung” had previously reported on the crime.
