The sectional of the Brazilian Bar Association in the Federal District (OAB-DF) reelected this Sunday, 21, the lawyer Délio Lins e Silva Júnior to command the entity for another biennium. For the first time, voting was essentially online, because of the pandemic, but support ballots were installed in four points of the federal capital.
The result was announced at the beginning of the night in a poll broadcast live from the OAB-DF headquarters. Just over 38,000 lawyers eligible to vote participated in the election.
The criminalist asked for a license from the presidency to run for reelection on the ‘Avança Mais OAB’ ticket, with lawyer Lenda Tariana as vice-president.
Before assuming the highest position in the sectional, he also worked for the human rights and new lawyer support commissions. With a postgraduate degree in economic criminal law, Délio is a master and a doctoral candidate in criminal legal sciences at the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra, in Portugal.
The campaign was supported by presenter Xuxa, who was the electoral corporal of Ticiano Figueiredo, the artist’s lawyer and candidate for counselor on the winning ticket, and singer César Menotti.
The victory still needs to be confirmed by the OAB-DF Electoral Commission, which should happen in the next few days.
Faced with allegations of fraud in the racial quotas policy, which became mandatory in this election and establishes a reserve of 30% of seats for black and brown candidates, the collegiate decided on Saturday to suspend the registration of all candidacies.
The plates were placed sub judice until the heteroidentity subcommittee analyzed whether the norm was actually complied with.
In case the winning slate is challenged, a period of five days will be given to adapt to the new rules.
With the vote, the re-elected president ousted opponents Evandro Pertence (Listen Adv, Change OAB), Guilherme Campelo (The New Order), Renata Amaral (Our Order is Democratic) and Thais Riedel (You in the Order).
See the main proposals of the winning slate:
