Many foods can be beneficial for joints, so it is recommended to include them in your diet in old age. About this in an interview with the publication “People’s News” said nutritionist Marina Makisha.
She stressed that a balanced diet is necessary for the body to function properly.
“For joints to be in good shape, the body needs to get, first of all, amino acids. Ligaments are muscle structures, therefore, first of all, there should be a sufficient amount of protein in the diet. In the diet of older people, it is necessary to increase the amount of protein to 1.5 grams per kilogram of body weight to prevent muscle tissue, ”explained Makisha.
According to her, protein foods should be consumed, such as lean fish and poultry, dairy products, eggs. Also, the diet should include fresh fruits and vegetables, foods rich in vitamin C.
“Vitamin C is contained in fresh vegetables and fruits, greens, but black currant holds the record. Iron is needed to build and repair cartilage tissue. Accordingly, if a person lives with chronic anemia, he will have problems, so you need to eat foods that contain iron: liver and red meat, ”said the nutritionist.
She added that for the benefit of the joints, the berries should be eaten frozen, as it provides prevention of age-related changes and antioxidant protection.
Earlier that day, nutritionist Mariyat Mukhina spoke about the benefits of pistachios. According to her, pistachios have a positive effect on the cardiovascular system because they contain magnesium. Plus, they’re packed with protein, antioxidants, amino acids, calcium and iron.
Prior to that, gastroenterologist Natalya Gronskaya on October 20 denied the benefits of eating fermented milk products at night. According to the expert, they raise insulin levels, which means that the stress hormone cortisol also increases, which can negatively affect the quality of sleep.
A day earlier, the therapist-nutritionist, doctor of the highest category, candidate of medical sciences Ekaterina Burlyaeva dispelled the myths about dairy products.
