Now we can benefit from help of 700 euros to buy an electric scooter

From now until December 31, 2026 we can apply for (and benefit from) aid from 700 euros to buy an electric scooter thanks to the Move Madrid Plan. But, be careful, only electric scooters equivalent to mopeds, that is, those that belong to the so-called L1e category.

The fact that only electric scooters in the L1e category are included may be a stimulus for this type of vehicle, which is generally seeing a decrease in sales when compared to the rest of motorcycles (both electric and combustion).

Sales of electric scooters and mopeds are down

For example, in the latest report from Anesdor (National Association of Companies in the Two-Wheel Sector), there is talk of a growth in the sale of electric motorcycles 50% in October, being from 1.4% in the accumulated of the year. For his part, the electric scooter and moped had quite negative figures in October, with a drop in 61% and 48.3% respectively. Regarding the accumulated of the year, the scooter reflects a drop in 42.5% and the moped 56.5%. Comment that these data are at the national level.

“Citizens clearly see the advantages of motorcycles, not only in day-to-day mobility, but also when it comes to enjoying leisure and tourism activities. However, the moped continues to show negative data in general. It is necessary to review the regulation of the moped and resolve the deep grievance that this vehicle suffers compared to other micro mobility vehicles that have similar features, such as electric bicycles or scooters,” he says. Returning to the topic of Move Madrid Planaid for the purchase of an electric scooter in the L1e category reaches the 700 euros and, although the bases for said requests have not yet been published (it will be done soon in the Official Gazette of the Community of Madrid), if it is known that individuals and professionals who are residents in some municipality of the Community of Madrid.

On the other hand, the self-employed and small and medium-sized companies (SMEs) may also request this aid, as long as they develop their economic activity in one of the different low-emission zones that are spread throughout the Madrid community.
