After his great season with Feyenoord, it seemed that Santiago Giménez would make the leap not only to one of the major European leagues, but also to a world-class one. Unfortunately for him, his poor form in the Copa América, along with what he had shown in general with the Mexican National Team, put a stop to what seemed like an inevitable transfer. However, this weekend the best version of the Mexican reappeared and the doors to the Premier League have reopened.
International press reports that Nottingham Forest is about to submit a formal offer for the transfer of Santiago Giménez. The figure that the Premier League side would offer would be around 43 million euros, an amount that firstly meets what Feyenoord expects for the departure of its star player and secondly, it would make the Mexican national team striker the most expensive signing of all time for the club “del bosque” surpassing the 41.5 million euros that they paid this summer for Elliot Anderson.
At this point, the club is in the middle of making inquiries, but it is expected that before the end of the week, the English team will put the formal offer on the table of Feyenoord in the hope of reaching an agreement. Nottingham has been free of relegation for two consecutive years and the goal from this third year onwards is to fight for Europe, therefore, a striker of Giménez’s quality is desired.
