NVIDIA he might be working on a new SoC which could be used for portable solutions, maybe even a new one portable console which could therefore conflict with Nintendo Switch 2or whatever the new console from the Kyoto company will be called.
The question is connected to the one already reported previously collaboration between NVIDIA and Mediatekwhich would concern the development of a new ARM-based SoC, particularly focused on artificial intelligence, which could be presented during Computex, but to this is also added the rumor according to which this collaboration could have to do with a portable console, or something like that.
After the rumors reported by analyst Dan Nysterdt, the leaker XpeaGPU also arrives to make matters worse, claiming that an SoC could emerge from the collaboration between NVIDIA and Mediatek to be used for a portable gaming solution.
Huang “frustrated” by Nintendo?
Reportedly, the NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang is reportedly “frustrated by Nintendo” and would intend to try to attack the market of portable gaming devices, trying to catch up with AMD, which is currently dominating the sector, obviously excluding Nintendo Switch.
At the moment these are rather imaginative reconstructions, but they still seem to be based on some real movements such as the rapprochement between NVIDIA and Mediatek, which is substantially corroborated by the information that has emerged on the projects to counter Snapdragon X Elite.
As for Nintendo Switch 2, NVIDIA had to follow Nintendo’s requests, which probably concern a balanced system that is also able to guarantee a certain autonomy and efficiency, but from the collaboration with Mediatek a SoC more focused on brute power could emerge , which could lead to notable technical results.
Also considering the solutions adopted by NVIDIA to optimize results in machine learning such as DLSS and similar, the results achievable on the purely technical front could be truly remarkable, we’ll see.
