This Wednesday, October 13, in Kongsberg, Norway, a man killed and injured several people using a bow and arrows. The attacker was arrested moments after the attack. The news was released by the local police.
At a press conference, Øyvind Aas, Drammen Town Police Chief, said that “unfortunately, we can confirm that there are several injuries and also, unfortunately, several deaths.”
The injured were taken to hospitals. And several of them are in the Kongsberg city hall, which has set up a reception center for the victims. The exact number of victims is not yet known, as well as the health status of the survivors.
Meanwhile, Aas assured that “the man who perpetrated the events has been detained by the police and there is no active search for more people. Based on the information we have, a single person is behind what happened.” According to police reports, the attacker carried out attacks in several towns in southern Norway before being arrested.
And although Monica Maeland, Norway’s Minister of Justice and Public Safety received updates on the matter, she limited herself to giving information about the attacks.
Meanwhile, the Norwegian intelligence services (PST) are already working to find out the motives for the attack. They focus on determining whether it is a terrorist act or not.
The Nordic police had asked the residents of Kongsberg to stay indoors after learning that a person had been shot with a bow and arrow. In a parallel event, police units and a group of anti-explosive specialists moved around the area.
