Senator Klishas advised the Norwegian authorities to read the Svalbard treaty
Andrey Klishas, head of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building, advised the Norwegian authorities to read the treaty on Svalbard. About this he wrote in your Telegram.
“Let these ‘diplomats’ first read the agreements on Svalbard and find something there about the right to violate it under the pretext of sanctions,” the senator said.
And then the “Russian provocation” can become a sad reality for their puppet government
The Svalbard Treaty was signed on February 9, 1920 in Paris and determined the international legal status of the archipelago. In 1947, the Norwegian parliament recognized that the USSR was a state that had rights to Svalbard along with Norway.
Norway refused to let the cargo pass
On June 28, Norway refused to allow cargo for the Russian mining village of Barentsburg on Svalbard to pass through the Storskog checkpoint on the border of the countries. Oslo has rejected Moscow’s request to exempt cargo from sanctions. Usually the goods were delivered by trucks from Murmansk to the city of Tromso, after which they were sent to Svalbard by sea.
It is noted that the request sent by the Russian side concerned permission to transport food. At the moment, about 500 people live in Barentsburg.

After that, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin instructed to discuss the denunciation of the agreement between Russia and Norway on the delimitation of maritime spaces and cooperation in the Barents Sea and the Arctic Ocean.
However, the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that the treaty cannot be denounced by Norway, since it is indefinite. According to the press secretary of the Norwegian Foreign Ministry Anne Haavardsdatter, such law enforcement practice is common, and Moscow and Oslo are mutually interested in maintaining the agreement.
After that, the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova wondered about the existence of law, jurisprudence and international laws in the West. She sneered, suggesting to remember which treaty provides for unilateral economic sanctions, theft of assets and xenophobia against an entire nation.
Blockade of Russian territories
In addition to Svalbard, another problematic situation was the delivery of goods to the Kaliningrad region. On June 18, Lithuania stopped the transit of some sanctioned goods. According to the governor of the region Anton Alikhanov, a large list of goods falls under the restrictions – from 40 to 50 percent of the range of goods, including construction materials, cement and metals.

The head of the region pointed out that by restricting transit to Kaliningrad, the European Union is acting in a hostile way and worsens the lives of a million people. Because of the actions of the EU, Alikhanov doubted the possibility of a good relationship with the neighboring countries of Kaliningrad, specifying that residents of neighboring states “at the level of human communication” have normal relations.
Alikhanov also warned that Moscow could take extreme economic measures if the European Union continued to block the transit of goods. According to him, Russia may be stronger in the confrontation over transit, but one does not want to enter into such a competition. The governor expressed hope for the prudence of the other side.
