There’s no two without three
In Montreal, for the third time in the last four races, Max Verstappen and Lando Norris shared the top two steps of the podium. In Miami it was the Englishman who prevailed while in Imola and Canada, despite a car that wasn’t the best of the lot, the world champion enforced his rule. Norris is currently third in the drivers’ standingsseven points behind Charles Leclerc and already 63 behind the #1 Red Bull, who seems the clear favorite to win the title.
Consistency of performance
Well However, Norris collected 39 of those 63 points in the first two races alonewhen the RB20 was unapproachable and vice versa the McLaren MCL38 was still in the ‘running in’ phase and waiting for updates. The numbers seem to indicate like English – more than Leclerc, despite the world championship ranking currently saying the opposite – can truly be considered the anti-Verstappen. In fact, Norris is the only driver on the grid to be always scored points in all the GPsremaining ‘at stake’ only in the Miami Sprint, a weekend in which he however made up for it with interest on Sunday.
The MCL38 doesn’t stop
McLaren is also proving to be super-reliable. In fact, the papaya team is the only one to have covered 1084 laps of the Sunday races so far this season. In this particular ranking, Ferrari is third, thanks to the flop in Canada, and Red Bull is even eighth, due to Verstappen’s retirement in Australia and above all the accidents involving Sergio Perez between Monaco and Montreal. Both titles remain firmly in the hands of Verstappen and Red Bull for the moment, but Andrea Stella’s team now really seems to be a credible and dangerous opponent.
