The interview with The Guardian
On the weekend of the Japanese Grand Prix, Lando Norris gave an interesting interview to his compatriots from The Guardian, ranging between present and future. In the conversation he reiterated his firm intention to become world champion and firmly believes he can do it with McLaren Mercedes.
Lando isn't afraid of Max
“I believe I can win the world championship at McLaren, that's why I signed a new contract“, Norris explained in reference to the multi-year extension with his team.
The young Englishman then spoke about Verstappen: “I definitely think I can take on Max and give him a good challenge. But I am aware that going up against Max would be extremely difficult for anyone within his own team.”
In fact, it is no mystery that in the past Red Bull had thought of Norris for the post-Perez team, with public compliments from Helmut Marko.
The McLaren driver then concluded: “I'm not afraid of Max in any way and I'm excited to race against him, as people consider it one of the best ever. I'm looking forward to fighting with him in a different situation than where he has a car half a second faster and passes me.”
