Goalkeeper Alexander Nubel extended his contract with German football giant Bayern Munich for a new four years, until 2029, but he will remain with his current team, Stuttgart, on loan for two years.
The two clubs published a joint statement in which they confirmed their respective extensions. The extension of Noble’s contract (27 years) means that he is expected to return to Bayern to be a replacement for veteran Manuel Neuer (38 years) when he retires.
Nobel moved to Bayern from Schalke, as part of a free transfer in 2020, but he only played four matches with the Bavarian club.
The goalkeeper said, “I am very happy with this decision and the confidence that Bayern has shown in me. At the same time, I feel very good in Stuttgart,” and added, “I want to enjoy success with Stuttgart, and take my steps on a personal level.” Noble played for two seasons with French club Monaco on loan, before moving to Stuttgart.
Stuttgart, which struggled to survive last season, is presenting a distinguished season, currently occupying third place on goal difference behind second-placed Bayern Munich and defending champions, and on its way to qualifying for the Champions League for the first time since the 2009-2010 season.
The goalkeeper kept a clean sheet in 12 matches, while conceding 34 goals in 29 matches he played in the league and cup.
