Nintendo It is a company that has taken care of its properties in an unparalleled way. While in the past this meant that only they could play Mario or The Legend of Zelda, we have long seen how this idea has changed little by little. In this way, a new report has indicated that Multiple third-party studios are already working on new games in the Japanese company's series.
According to a new report by GamesIndustry.biz, Nintendo would be in talks with multiple third-party developers to create games with its beloved properties, where they simply have the role of producers and publishers, leaving development in the hands of other people. This is what Christopher Dring, head of B2B Games, started on the matter:
“I also know that Nintendo is actively meeting with independent developers to find new partners. Part of that has to do with publishing indie games, something Nintendo does from time to time, but it's also looking for studios that can work on some of its IPs. Nintendo regularly works with third-party teams, including Bandai Namco, Team Ninja, PlatinumGames, MercurySteam, WayForward and Grezzo. But the company is looking to grow that list, and I know of three studios that are deep in talks about creating games based on Nintendo brands.”
Let us remember that Nintendo has allowed Ubisoft to work with Mario in the Mario + Rabbids series. For its part, Brace Yourself Games took The Legend of Zelda to give us Candace of Hyrule. Thus, It is clear that the Big N is willing to collaborate with other studiesregardless of whether they are indie or not, to inject something new into their most beloved properties.
Along with this, we have also seen how Nintendo properties have reached new media thanks to other companies. This is the case of the animated film Super Mario Bros. with Illumination, and the live action of The Legend of Zelda with Sony Pictures. We can only wait to see what the next collaboration that the Big N will have will beand the type of property that has the opportunity to break away from convention. On related topics, they deny rumors about the next Nintendo Direct. Likewise, former Nintendo employees talk about the Switch 2.
Editor's Note:
While it is true that Nintendo is willing to lend its properties to other developers, they do not do this without some type of supervision, which makes these types of projects quite interesting. Here we are presented with ideas that we may not associate with the Big N, but the quality control is top-notch.
