After a couple of rumors and leaks, Nintendo has finally confirmed the existence of Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition. This is not a face-to-face tournament, but a video game focused on recapturing the magic of this historic event, and bringing the experience to your living room.
The first trailer of Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition confirms that this game will be available on Nintendo Switch on July 18. Similar to NES Remixthis is a collection of 13 different games from the second console of the Big N, with more than 150 challenges inspired by the classic competitions organized by the Japanese company.
The approach of Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition is to offer an experience similar to the Nintendo World Championships for all players. The more than 150 challenges are small tests that last a couple of seconds. Along with this, a speedrun mode is included, you can participate in weekly leaderboards, and it is even possible to compete against eight people on a single Switch. - Ice Climber
- Kid Icarus
- Kirby’s Adventure
- Metroid
- Super Mario Bros.

- Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
Notably, Tetris and Rad Racer, two of the three games that were part of the 1990 Nintendo World Championships are absent. You can currently pre-order the digital edition in the Switch eShop, but a physical version will also be available, which not only includes the game, but It also offers us a gold NES cartridge, 13 different postcards, five pins, and a special box to store all this.
