The owners of Nintendo Switch in Russia have had a nasty surprise in the last few hours: they can’t access the local version of the Nintendo eShop, neither from the console, nor through other systems. The support page talks about a payment system problem, but everyone’s thoughts quickly turned to the Russo-Ukraine war.
Nintendo may in fact have adapted to other video game companies, such as Sony, Microsoft, CD Projekt, or Electronic Arts, and have blocked the eShop in Russia, as the timing suggests. Currently all login attempts end with theerror 2813-0999, which belongs to the eShop unavailability errors family (due to lack of a page or due to maintenance).
Nintendo has not officially taken a position against Russia and has not issued any press releases regarding the problems of the eShop, but for many the signal is clear enough. At least the most common interpretation links the two facts. It must be said that, given the situation, i login problems they may be independent of Nintendo.
We just have to wait for official information on the matter, hoping that the war will end as soon as possible.
