Nintendo Switch Pro commented by the developers of World War Z.
The launch of Nintendo Switch OLED has brought many owners of Switch to stay with their original models. However, interest in a possible updated version remains high. A potential Nintendo Switch Pro could help bridge the technology gap between it and competitors on PS5 and Xbox Series X / S.
However, one developer in particular believes Nintendo shouldn’t feel pressured to develop more powerful hardware. The lead designer of World War Z Dmitry Grigorenko, from Saber Interactive, answered a question where he was asked what he would like to see in a potential Nintendo Switch Pro.
“I don’t think Switch needs a more powerful version. Saber and many other talented studios have already shown that no porting is impossible. Nintendo consoles have never been about hardware, they’ve always been dealing with something that enhances the gaming experience, and I can’t wait to see what they will do next.“.
So for Grigorenko Nintendo has reached some sort of “upper limit” with Switch? “Every game we release on the Switch pushes the hardware a bit more. World War Z was a bigger challenge than our previous projects, and I’m sure our next projects will stand out too, but it all depends on the game. Sometimes in the industry, things that seem incredibly complex from an external perspective are actually easy to implement during development. Most of the time it’s the other way around though; the simplest things can take an immense amount of time and effort to work. In Saber, I feel we have struck a great balance across all of our Switch ports by delivering amazing gameplay and keeping the games great.“.
