In a post published on X, market analyst Matt Piscatella of Circana, revealed that the Nintendo Switch sales they have almost reached the PS2 totalsthe best-selling console on US soil (and globally in general).
According to the numbers in his possession, the portable console is only 1.1 million units away to reach Sony’s black monolith, a goal that can easily be achieved in the coming months and certainly before the launch of the Switch’s successor.
PS5 and Xbox Series X|S sales are doing well
This is not the only interesting data indicated in the post. Piscatella also spoke about the PS5 units sold in the US are 7% higher than PS4 units in the same period of time. At the level, however, we know that PS5 is at 61.7 million units sold, slightly less than the 63.5 million placed by PS4 in the same period.
Finally, Piscatella states that Xbox Series X|S Is Close to Matching Xbox 360’s Numbers in the same time it has been on the market. Overall, the seventh-generation console had sold 84 million units, according to the latest official data from 2015. According to Piscatella, moreover, Xbox Series consoles will receive a sales boost in the coming months thanks to College Football 2025, which is racking up excellent sales numbers in the United States.
Speaking of data, just today Sony released the numbers for the latest financial quarter of PlayStation, which show growing profits thanks to services, PSN and exclusives, but with a significant decline in terms of hardware sales.
