To participate, users must download exclusive software on their consoles, as confirmed nintendo in its official statement. No details have yet been given on what specific feature will be tested during this event. However, there are already rumors that they could be the long-awaited best servers for games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate they could be run better or could even be tests to finally have the implementation of gamecube.
However, we will have to wait until the end of the month to know all the details.

Author’s note: I would like to participate, but too bad I don’t have an account that can enter the trial program. Especially because they decided to leave out the people from Latin America.
