The chairman of the Union of Cinematographers of Russia, director Nikita Mikhalkov, said that the deceased director Sergei Soloviev made a significant contribution to Soviet and Russian cinema.

“He was one of the young innovators who managed to find a unique film language, this language was unique not only and not so much because it caused confusion, bewilderment and a desire to argue among many, but because he opened some amazing lyrical page, which is very shaped the essence of the younger generation in many ways, ”Mikhalkov said.

According to Mikhalkov, the director became a pioneer, thanks to him, many artists soon became famous.

Also, the chairman of the Union of Cinematographers of the Russian Federation noted that Soloviev belonged to the category of directors who can be recognized without reading the title credits.

In his opinion, Soloviev had his own unique style and became a cult director for Russian cinema.
Soloviev was born on August 25, 1944 in Karelia. He made his debut as a filmmaker at the Mosfilm studio. Soloviev – Soviet and Russian film director, screenwriter, film producer, teacher; laureate of the Lenin Komsomol Prize and the USSR State Prize, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation.

Earlier on December 13, the father of the leader of the “Kino” group Viktor Tsoi, Robert Tsoi, expressed his condolences in connection with the death of the director of the film “Assa” Sergei Solovyov. According to him, he respected and loved the filmmaker very much.
The death of Soloviev was also commented on by director Alexei German Jr., saying that Soloviev had incredible energy and was a friend of his parents.
