At least 31 people died Saturday in a crowd rush in Nigeria’s southern state of Rivers.
The situation arose when hundreds of people had come to church in Port Harcourt to get food. Crowds rushed through the fence and some of the people were left homeless by others, local police told Reuters.
“People had come to the scene before, and some of them became impatient. This led to a rush of crowds. The police are there to investigate the events, ”said a police spokesman Grace Iringe-Koko said.
