Nigeria Dozens killed in a shooting at a Catholic church in Nigeria

Authorities say the attack killed as many as dozens of worshipers and wounded several.

With explosives armed shooters opened fire on Sunday at a Catholic church in Ondo State, Nigeria. According to the administration and police, the attack killed as many as dozens of worshipers and wounded many. The events were reported by news agencies Reuters and AFP.

The motives for the attack on St. Francis Church in Owon City and the number of victims are still unclear. No group has taken the attack on their names.

“It’s too early to say exactly how many people were killed,” a state police spokesman said Ibukun Odunlami said to AFP on Sunday.

An eyewitness told AFP that at least 20 prayers died in the shooting.

“I was walking in the area when I heard loud explosions and gun shots inside the church,” he backgrounded.
