Nicolás Benedetti has had a hopeful start with Mazatlán FC. The former Club América soccer player is finding regularity and confidence in the Sinaloa team. In the first five days of the season, the Colombian midfielder adds two goals and one assist; more than everything he offered in the Grita México 2021 tournament. Over almost three years with the Águilas, ‘El Poeta’ played just 52 games, scored eight goals and provided four assists.
The constant injuries, the lack of continuity and the casualties in the game were factors that prevented Benedetti from being able to offer a better version with the azulcrema team. In a press conference prior to the duel between Mazatlán FC and América, the Colombian midfielder recounted how he left the capital squad.
Benedetti indicated that his departure from America was by mutual agreement since he considered that he needed a change of scenery. “Without a doubt. We talked to all the people of America, it was also my decision, we reached an agreement. We consider that it was the best thing that needed other airs. I came to this great institution and I am very happy here,” said ‘El Poeta’ . The Colombian media assured that playing against the Eagles will be “interesting and beautiful” due to the greatness of this club and for facing his former teammates.
“It’s an interesting and beautiful game. A game that I want to play: America is a very big team, because of my past there it’s nice to face my former teammates. Try to take it easy, knowing that it’s one more final. We face all the games with the importance it owes”

The duel between Mazatlán FC and América will take place this Wednesday, February 16. This duel corresponds to matchday 2 of the Liga MX Clausura 2022 tournament, but it was rescheduled for this date because the Kraken Stadium was undergoing maintenance in January.
