Like a bolt from the blue the announcement trailer for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, the new platform fighting game à la Smash Bros with a roster of characters from the likes of SpongeBob, the Ninja Turtles and others from the series of the homonymous animation house.
It is certainly not the first time that the Nickelodeon engages in games inspired by its products. A very recent example was Kart Racers 2: Grand Prix, colorful racing game along the lines of Mario Kart is Crash Team Racing (you can find our review by clicking here). This time from the trailer we can see that the inspiration of the signed title Ludosity is Fair Play Labs seems to come from none other than the Super Smash Bros.
The dynamics of the gameplay seem to lead to the classic fighting game formula Nintendo, in which you have to send your opponents off the screen. From the video we can already see a part of the roster of characters, but thanks to the leaker’s post Nibel on Twitter, we have new information on the contents of the game: starting from the possibility of playing single-player up to a maximum of 4 players both local and online.
All-Star Brawl will see a total of 20 levels inspired by the Nickelodeon animated series. From the trailer we can recognize some of them as i Fields of Jellyfish or the ship of the Flying Dutchman from SpongeBob or the Tecnodromo from the 80’s series Ninja Turtles. Players will be able to unlock new moves for each character, along with new bonus content for an in-game gallery.
As for the roster, we don’t have a complete list yet but we know they will be there:
- Michelangelo (Ninja Turtles)
- Leonardo (Ninja Turtles)
- Nigel Thornberry (The Jungle Family)
- Powdered Toast Man (The Ren & Stimpy Show)
- Spongebob Squarepants (SpongeBob)
- Sandy Cheeks (SpongeBob)
- Patrick Stella (SpongeBob)
- Oblina (Aaahh !!! Real Monsters)
- Lucy Loud (At the Loud House)
- Lincoln Loud (At the Loud House)
- Helga (Hey Arnold!)
- Reptar (the Rugrats)
- Zim (Invader Zim)
- Danny Phantom (Danny Phantom)
According to the announcement trailer, the “new” Smash by Nickelodeon will arrive in autumn 2021, but we will have to wait for further updates regarding a precise release date before we can play as Spongebob and the other characters.
