Seider celebrates his debut for Detroit – victories for Grubauer and Stützle
Detroit Ice hockey pro Moritz Seider made his debut for the Detroit Red Wings in the North American NHL, but suffered a bitter defeat. Philipp Grubauer and Tim Stützle, on the other hand, were able to celebrate victories.
Moritz Seider convinced Detroit on Thursday (local time) with two assists in the 6: 7 (1: 0, 3: 3, 2: 3, 0: 1) defeat after extra time against the champions Tampa Bay Lightning. The 20-year-old defender was selected sixth in the 2019 draft and had match practice in Sweden, among other places, in the preseason.
The Red Wings were already leading 3-0 after 28 minutes and with his third goal Tyler Bertuzzi also restored the old lead after Ondrej Palat had cut it to 1: 3 in the meantime. Bertuzzi and Wladislaw Namestnikow also ensured a supposedly comfortable 6-3 lead at the beginning of the final section, before Tampa Bay scored three goals in just under four minutes. Palat made the decision in the extension. “If you are in the lead by three goals in the third period, it is of course a slap in the face if you lose in the end,” said Detroit coach Jeff Blashill.
The Seattle Kraken celebrated their first victory, with national goalkeeper Philipp Grubauer standing between the posts. One day after the 3: 4 opening defeat at the Vegas Golden Knights, the new team won 4: 3 (2: 1, 1: 1, 1: 1) at the Nashville Predators. Brandon Tanev hit twice and Grubauer saved 27 shots.
Tim Stützle and the Ottawa Senators were also successful. The former attacker of the Adler Mannheim posted a template in the so-called “Battle of Ontario” at 3: 2 (3: 0, 0: 0, 0: 2) against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
