NHL|The lack of patience hit Juuse Saros in the money bag.
Finnish goalkeeper Juuse Saros29, signed an eight-year, $61.94 million contract extension with the Nashville Predators on July 1.
The deal, which takes $7.74 million per season off Nashville’s salary cap, could end up being a lottery win for the club.
When compared to Saros who just recently signed an eight-year, $66 million contract with the Boston Bruins to Jeremy Swayman25, it can be stated how the Finnish goalkeeper possibly left several millions on the table.
Even A well-known insider for The Athletic Pierre LeBrun says Saros on his worries with his extension contract.
“Eight years and an average salary of $7.74 million for a guy with more number one point guard screens than Swayman. It’s hard not to say that the Predators don’t have a real Aledile,” LeBrun writes in his article.
During the previous three seasons, Saros has played 195 NHL regular season games with a save percentage of 91.4. Swayman, in turn, has played in 122 regular season games over the previous three seasons, with a combined save percentage of 91.7.
“Think for a moment what the number would look like now if Saros had waited until the beginning of the season, when Swayman and possibly Igor Shestjorkin would have signed their extension contract. Shestjorkin’s future salary will be $11-12 million per season,” LeBrun continued.
“Hats off to the GM of Predators For Barry Trotzwho was timely about it,” the reporter added.
Nashville starts its season on the night between Thursday and Friday.
