The Austrian non-governmental organization (NGO) All Rise presents this Tuesday (12) a complaint at the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, against President Jair Bolsonaro (no party). The NGO accuses Bolsonaro of a crime against humanity due to its environmental policy.
Call “The planet against Bolsonaro“, the NGO’s complaint says that the Brazilian president is acting for the destruction of life on the planet in what he calls a “general attack against the Amazon”.

“We present evidence that shows how Bolsonaro’s actions are directly connected to the negative impacts of climate change around the world,” Johannes Wesemann, founder of the NGO All Rise, told Radio Française International (RFI). “There are clear and compelling reasons to believe that crimes against humanity are being committed in Brazil.”
Among the arguments are harassment, murders, cuts in the number of inspectors against deforestation, reduction of fines for illegal logging, increase in forest fires and the poor condition of the land with extensive cattle ranching.
This is the 7th complaint against Bolsonaro in the ICC, but the first specifically on environmental policy. In August of this year, the Articulation of Indigenous Peoples of Brazil (Apib) denounced Bolsonaro for crimes against humanity and genocide.
