In an interview on Finder, Nicolas Pouard expressed himself on the plans of Ubisoft for the NFT, which provide for the introduction of these products in their games. The manager has defended these plans with the sword, despite the rather heavy backlash received by the players, not exactly exciting feedback.
His words were at the same time understanding, but firm, especially regarding Ubisoft’s NFT system, Quartz, and the negative words that the community has spent on it:
Well that’s a reaction we’d expected, we’re aware that it’s not an easy concept to assimilate, however Quartz is really just a first step that could lead to something much bigger. Something that will be easier for our players to understand.
I think gamers still can’t figure out what a secondary digital market like this could bring them. For now, given the current situation and the context of NFTs, players think catastrophically that it’s just a tool for speculating. But what we (at Ubisoft) see on the horizon is the end result, that of giving players the opportunity to resell their items once they have finished using them or once they have finished using the game itself.
All of this is really for them, it is really a benefit, but for the moment they cannot understand it.
The concept of NFT actually it could be a bit complicated for most, and for this reason we have written an article concerning this phenomenon, which we invite you to read to understand more closely what is happening at Ubisoft and beyond.
If the French company’s plan is successful, and if it turns out to be a market in favor of the players, it will only be clear at a later time, so for this, we will not have to do anything but wait.
