Veteran quarterbacks in the past, such as Brett Favre with Aaron Rodgers in the Green Bay Packersor more recently with Ryan Tannehill on the Tennessee Titans with Malik Willishave been reluctant to teach rookies the way in the National Football League (NFL).
This is not the case for Marcus Mariota on the Atlanta Falcons, who has indeed taken rookie Desmond Ridder under his wing, and has been more than willing to pass on his knowledge.
“If you can help the guys – especially the younger ones – in the end it’s going to make your team better. So I do everything I can. I give him all the information I can, whatever he wants to absorb,” Mariota said. for ESPN.
Ridder isn’t afraid to ask
These Mariota statements were confirmed by Desmond Ridder, who also said he was asking questions when any of the head coach’s instructions were not clear.
“When something isn’t right and I know he’s been in that situation before, I just go and ask him, ‘Okay, Coach said this, how do we really want it?'” Ridder said. “He comes back and gives me an answer and it just makes things work betterr,” Ridder said.
