US citizens are becoming increasingly tired of the approach of the administration of the head of the White House, Joe Biden, on the situation in Ukraine. Portal writes about it Newsweekreferring to the new survey data.
A Data for Progress poll showed that 57% of respondents strongly or partially support US diplomatic negotiations, “even if it means that Ukraine will have to make compromises with Russia.” At the same time, 32% of Americans are categorically against this.
In addition, 49% of those polled pointed to the need for the Biden administration to act more diplomatically, while the United States refuses to negotiate and continues to supply military equipment to Ukraine.
Marcus Stanley, director of advocacy at the Quincy Institute, stressed that the US authorities are not trying to establish a dialogue with Russia, and “do not seem to be seeking a settlement.”
On September 30, readers of the British Daily Mail newspaper criticized Biden for his statement to Russian President Vladimir Putin about NATO’s readiness to defend every inch of its territory. Many users were outraged by this statement of the American president. Thus, one of them recalled that Ukraine is not a member of NATO, and the United States “should not take on the role of world gendarme.” Another user urged Biden to “shut up”.
Earlier, in September, American journalist Tucker Carlson said that the US President was building a dictatorship in the country following the example of Ukraine. Journalist Jason Hinkle agreed with this opinion, adding that the leaders of the United States and Ukraine act similarly, as they are subordinate to international Western organizations.
At the same time, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, emphasized that the United States is increasingly close to becoming a party to the conflict in Ukraine. As Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova noted, the volume of American financial assistance to Ukraine will soon reach an astronomical amount of $26 billion.
On February 24, Russia launched a special operation to protect the Donbass against the backdrop of an aggravation of the situation, shelling by the Armed Forces of Ukraine and an increase in the number of threats to the Russian Federation.
