The young Salerno student died shortly before turning 18. His parents flew to the US to understand what happened, the family lawyers: “The Administration of the Ef Academy has subjected Claudio to unimaginable treatments”
The family of Claudio Mandia, the 17-year-old from Salerno found dead in a New York college, will take “appropriate legal action” to shed light on the young man’s death. The parents, Mauro Mandia and Elisabetta Benesatto, entrepreneurs and owners of a company that exports frozen pizzas all over the world, especially in America, had come to the Big Apple to celebrate their son’s 18th birthday, a student of an exclusive international institute that hosts over 400 students. from 70 different countries.
To welcome them, however, in New York they found the Italian authorities who informed them that Claudio had been found dead on Friday morning on the campus of the Tarrytown institute where he attended a boarding school.
At first there was a fear of an illness, perhaps an unknown heart disease. Death from natural causes had also been confirmed by some family members. Then there was a hypothesis of a party with drugs and alcohol that ended in drama. But both tracks have been excluded for now. Just as the aggression was discarded.
American lawyers for the Mandia denied that there was a party but instead advanced the suspicion that something strange and anomalous happened. A comradely rite is suspicion. Unlike what was released on Saturday, the boy’s body was not found in his room.
The Administration of the Ef Academy “would have subjected Claudio to unimaginable treatments – this is the system on which the lawyers work”. A “full investigation” is now underway to find out what happened. Meanwhile, some of the boy’s college friends were heard yesterday.
However, the causes of death are not yet clear. The autopsy has been done, the outcome will perhaps arrive within the day.
Claudio had moved to the United States for almost a year and dreamed of becoming a manager.
The Consulate of New York is in contact with the Municipality of Battipaglia to organize the return of the deceased to Italy. However, it is not yet clear whether it can happen today or if it will take more time.
