The Democratic governor added that her team is in contact with the federal government and that New Yorkers “will be prepared to accept and support those who seek refuge” in the state.

Hochul’s message came while several host organizations have asked the Joe Biden Administration to admit refugees on its territory and put in place measures to protect Ukrainian citizens in the United States from deportation.
In this regard, the White House spokeswoman, Jen Psaki, assured during a press conference that Washington is preparing for the possibility of a large wave of refugees and is ready to receive Ukrainians, but said that it is expected that the majority will want go to Europe and neighboring countries.
