The current champion of Major League Soccer, the New York City, broke the news by signing the youngest player in the entire history of the competition. The team led by coach Ronny Deila hired Maximum Reed of only 14 years old.

“We are extremely happy to have signed with Maximum his first professional contract, which is a historic moment for NY City FC and MLS. He is a special and extremely talented player and we have been excited to see him develop in recent years at our academy,” team sporting director David Lee said in a statement.

The previous record was Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Axel Kei, who was signed by the club when he was 14 years and 15 days old, while Carrizo signed a contract when he was 14 years old.
For its part, Maximum Reedan Argentine who works as a midfielder, said he was happy for the opportunity, which will help him grow on and off the pitch.

Carrizo has been part of the New York City FC youth academy since 2018, appearing on the U-12 FC Westchester roster; subsequently, he received the invitation for the first team pre-season in 2022.

Likewise, his good performance on the field has been good, so much so that at the beginning of the year he was called up by the U-15 United States team.
