The Supervisory Board Facebook is an organization, presented as independent, created last year by the social network. It is a sort of Supreme Court, made up of personalities who do not belong to the company, responsible for examining disputed cases between the platform and users. The decision to permanently suspend Donald Trump’s account on January 7, after the assault on the Capitol in Washington, was applauded by some but criticized by others, especially in Europe. To try to see it clearly, Facebook has just taken this famous advice to the case.

What will happen if the Council calls for the reinstatement of Donald Trump? Although Facebook does not seem at all prepared to reverse its decision, it has nevertheless committed to apply without discussing any decision of the Supervisory Board. Whatever decision is rendered, it could have consequences for the future in the face of other similar situations.
