The startup Technosens, based in Grenoble, has developed a communication solution for seniors, their families and caregivers, based on the use of a simple television connected to the Internet.
franceinfo: What does your solution consist of?
Thierry Chevalier, founder of Technosens : It comes in the form of a small box that transforms any television into a simplified interface, allowing different services to be offered. For example, it is possible to make videophone calls to remove doubts, or simply to allow families to talk to their relatives living in EHPADs or senior serviced residences. The interface is very easy to use. External stakeholders can connect via a smartphone or tablet.
How did you get the idea to create this system?
I had the idea for this device when I saw the difficulties encountered by my own family with my grandfather, who was ill with Alzheimer’s. Being an electronics and computer engineer, I wanted to find a technological solution to provide support to people facing this type of circumstance. It is about responding to the vital need for social ties of the elderly.
Where can we find your solution?
The host institutions are responsible for installing the device. We have around 5,000 users in France. We have just entered into a partnership with the Korian group, the European leader in the care of the elderly, and Vyv, the second largest mutualist player in health and social protection in France, in order to further extend our coverage in the region.
