Electric river trams, a new type of public transport, will appear in Moscow in 2022-2023. This innovation was announced by the mayor of the capital Sergei Sobyanin. Interfax…
“Muscovites remember this interesting waterway passenger service, there are many requests for the restoration of river passenger transport,” Sobyanin said.
The city will create two traffic lines for 20 river trams. The mayor noted that these will be permanent flights. The first directions will be laid from Kievskiy railway station through Moscow-City to Fili and from ZIL to Pechatniki.
It is clarified that the flights are designed not only for summer time, but also for winter time. In this regard, it was also decided to build comfortable mini-stations for passengers.
Each 22-meter tram has 42 seats, two of which are intended for people with limited mobility. The salon will be equipped with information screens and USB chargers, free Wi-Fi and separate areas with mini parking for scooters and bicycles.
You can pay for travel with a bank card, Troika or a single ticket.
Such an innovation will not solve many transport problems for Moscow, the mayor of the capital explained, but still “this is such an interesting niche project.” Electric trams will carry up to 15-16 thousand passengers daily.
