On Friday (5), Volkswagen announced a package of R$ 7 billion in investments in Brazil until 2026, in addition to the teaser of the first of four cars to be launched in the coming years: the Polo Track.
The German automaker released the initial details of how the new car will look, which could become the brand’s entry-level model in Brazil and Argentina. If this is confirmed, the Gol, one of the best-selling popular cars in history and for 43 years on the market, will be discontinued from 2023 – the year in which the Polo Track will be marketed.

Volks’ renewal package comes at a time when vehicle safety legislation is also undergoing changes. In January 2024, all models sold in Brazil, including older designs, should receive stability control as standard, an electronic feature that helps the driver maintain trajectory and control over the steering wheel.
The new rule also standardizes vehicles for sale in other countries, which, from a business point of view, optimizes the entire production chain of the assembler in Brazil and worldwide.
At a press conference on Friday (5), the President of Volkswagen in Latin America, Pablo Di Si, was enigmatic when he said that “we will continue producing the Gol as it is today until 2023”. Without commenting on the end of Goal, he added that “it is obvious that Polo Track will affect the future of Goal”.
With the vehicle’s future still uncertain, what is known is that the history of A-segment cars, small models such as the Gol and Voyage, are in contact with each other. Pablo Di Si commented that entry cars will become more expensive, but safer, more connected and more economical.
“It’s the price to pay,” he said with the Volks teaser indicating that the new Track will be a flirt between compact cars and urban SUVs, the so-called crossover.
