In the US election campaign, the focus is on so-called swing states. According to polls, Trump could pull ahead of Harris in three of these states.
Washington, DC – Positive news for Donald Trump: Before the US election In November, the republican In several particularly contested states, called swing states, the polls seem to be dominated by Kamala Harris which is likely to cause a stir in both camps. In some of these states, only a few votes decided victory or defeat four years ago.
US election polls: Trump extends lead in three swing states
In Georgia, the 2020 US election was particularly exciting. Joe Biden secure the votes of the 16 electoral colleges – with a razor-thin lead over Trump of less than 12,000 votes. Trump is now leading here with 49 to 45 percent, according to a poll by the New York Times and Siena College. In August, Harris and Trump were roughly tied at 47 percent each.
It was also extremely close in Arizona. Biden won the votes of eleven electors here too – the lead over Trump was only a little more than 10,000 votes. According to the new poll, Trump is now ahead of Harris by 50 to 45 percent. Last month, Harris was ahead of Trump by 49 to 45 percent.
Trump was able to defend the state of North Carolina, where the votes of 16 electoral votes are at stake, in the 2020 US election, but it is expected to be a close race here too. Trump is now ahead by 49 to 47 percent. The Republican has thus been able to increase his lead by three points compared to the previous month.
Swing State North Carolina: A Republican could become an obstacle for Trump
Eligible voters were surveyed between September 17 and 21. However, the pollsters note that the survey was conducted before the scandal surrounding a prominent Trump supporter from North Carolina became public. Republican Mark Robinson wants to become governor of the state on the east coast of the USA. Research shows that Robinson is said to have referred to himself as a “black Nazi” in the past. The extent to which this could influence Trump’s chances in North Carolina remains an open question.
Other swing states in this US election are Pennsylvania (19 electoral votes), Michigan (15 electoral votes), Wisconsin (10 electoral votes) and Nevada (6 electoral votes). The remaining states are considered to be firmly Democratic or Republican – although some could soon become swing states.
The nationwide Polls on the US election currently indicate an extremely close race between the former president and Vice President Harris. The election will take place on November 5. (lrg)
