do you hear it? It’s expectations being mercilessly shattered by a band that would rather dance with fire than play with fire. And it is that, when carrying out its expected return, Arde Bogotá has decided to bet on the challenge and the viscerality; boundless intensity and thunderous volume; the windows down and the trunks open; the flight and the challenge; sweat and gasoline; the blood on the steering wheel and the curves in the heart. The extraordinary ‘Los perros’, the first preview of what will be their second LP after ‘La noche’, and where they will once again have the support of Son Buenos and Sony, establishes a wild bridge between their memorable predecessor and the present of the band from Cartagena formed by Antonio García (vocals), Daniel Sánchez (guitar), Pepe Esteban (bass) and José Ángel Mercader (drums), achieving something as complex and difficult as balancing the balance between continuity and evolution.
In his talk with LA VERDAD, Antonio García firmly assures that it is “the best song by Arde Bogotá. It is the song that culminates a search work that the four of us have carried out on the way in which, in our opinion, a rock band in Spanish in the 21st century should be ». Although it may seem incredible, especially if we take into account the tremendous adrenaline rush that it proposes, ‘Los perros’ was born in the leisurely and poetic context of the western.

Greetings from Arde Bogotá to the readers of LA VERDAD
This is how García tells it: «I caught the Covid in December 2021, which forced me to be locked up in the shitty apartment in Madrid where I lived. It was a very small house that overlooked an interior patio and from where you couldn’t see the horizon. Those days I was obsessed with cowboy movies, because it is a film genre where space is one more character. And there was a movie that struck me especially: ‘The power of the dog’. When I saw her, the idea of doing something like that began to enter my head. And, although ‘Los perros’ is a very ‘La noche’ song, it already had the speech of what I thought our second album should be. It is a song that starts this new path ». In addition to that unexpected cinephile reference, in this pure, fast-paced and highly inspired thunder of rock, an admirable sense of self-confidence and full confidence in what they do stands out.
«Making a second album radically different from ‘La noche’ would not have been the right thing to do»
A fabulous preview for a comeback that, moreover, seems hopelessly destined to be compared to its triumphant predecessor, something the band is fully aware of.
What can we expect?
“Making a second album radically different from ‘La noche’ would not have been the right thing to do because what we are has not yet been established”, points out García for whom the definitive proof is in the reception that ‘Los perros’ has received. «If we had released this song on the previous album instead of ‘Abajo’, it would have made sense on a sound level, but it would not have been received in the same way. The people who know us and who like what we do already speak our language”. A direct language in form and substance and deeply addictive from the first listen that, in addition to the aforementioned success of their first LP, places them before a current scenario where the same question resonates: what can we expect from Arde Bogota’s second album?

“We have learned that we are a rock band and that people understand us that way”
Its singer gives us some clue: «I think the album, without straying too far from what we’ve done before, expands our sound. It is a job that shows that the band has taken its masks off. There were things at the composition level before releasing ‘La noche’ that are no longer there, like, for example, the fear of not knowing the way in which people were going to interpret what we do. And now, thanks to the more than 80 concerts we’ve done, we know it. We have learned that we are a rock band and that people understand us that way.
Lastly, when asked about the group’s next goal, Antonio García brings out his most mattress-oriented side: «The goal is to release a second album, be up to the task, defend the new songs, take them very far, make them grow and that things happen to people similar to what happened with ‘La noche’. We want to dedicate another 86 concerts to this new work that are just as emotionally glorious.” More than just a superb comeback, this is also a band ready to burn out and hunt for new horizons drawn on a rock map that, thanks to proposals like his, continues to be as exciting as it is infinite.
