Berlin – Germany is facing a new stream of refugees. In view of the rapidly increasing number of asylum applications, Federal Interior Minister Horst Seehofer already sees pressure to act. After the Federal Police had registered an increasing number of unauthorized entries, especially at the German-Polish border, the outgoing CSU minister is considering strengthening border controls. Hundreds of additional police officers have already been transferred to the border area. “But I’m ready to do more,” said Seehofer on Wednesday, according to the dpa news agency.
