Jade raymond, veteran of Assassin’s Creed, announced earlier this year the creation of Haven Entertainment Studios, a new independent studio based in Montreal. At the time, the only thing we knew about it is that they were working on a title for PlayStation 5, but thanks to a recent interview, we have learned more details about this project.
Talking with GamesIndustry.biz, Raymond said that his next title will have social elements and user-generated content, in addition to reiterating that multiple other former developers of the first Assassin’s creed they were working on it.
“There are three things that really excite me, and that are also the pillars for this game. The first is to think of games as social platforms. The pandemic proved that gaming is a social glue that brings communities together. Especially for younger audiences, this is what you can do and how you can make friends. That is something we really wanted to work on.
The second thing is to think about the ‘remix generation’. It all started recently, in this age of self-expression where we can design our own Nike shoes, where we are reading our friends instead of reading professional journalists. And I think that has evolved even more with things like TikTok. Another thing that excites me about this IP is the user-generated content, being able to take that self-expression and that concept of remix to the next level. ”
Editor’s note: Raymond is an extremely talented developer, and the franchise of Assassin’s Believe it would not have been the same without your participation. I have no doubt that this project will have the level of quality that we can expect from her and her team, but sadly it seems that there is still a very good time to learn more about it.
