Citroën updates the C3 Aircross SUV. Vehicle included in the B-Suv segment: the most dynamic and attractive in the contemporary automotive scene. A trend that does not seem to diminish, indeed, that thanks to new products finds renewed momentum, to the detriment of the other segments. Further aspects in its favor are great roominess, excellent practicality and an engine range that includes petrol and diesel solutions, leaving aside the hybrid for now. A choice that may seem unusual, given the times, but which should not compromise its commercial success. The alternatives, in this sense, remain numerous, but among the characteristics of the Citroën C3 Aricross there is also a certainly attractive price / content ratio.
Citroën C3 Aircross: how it’s made
The dimensions do not change: 4.16 meters in length, which make it a B-Suv in all respects. The stylistic elements, compared to the previous generation, do not change, but evolve: the front is probably the area of the vehicle that has undergone the greatest change. Here, the reference to the rest of the Citroën range is evident, from which it takes a good part of the recent style; the headlights are always separated with a new light signature. The glance is pleasant, muscular without appearing cloying; the lines are soft but not lacking in personality and, optionally, up to 70 color combinations are available for the bodywork. The introduction of new 16 “and 17” alloy wheels is also unprecedented.

The interiors are one of the most successful components of the vehicle: the upholstery is all made of good quality materials, the organization of the space is rational and ergonomic and the habitability is excellent, even for four adults. The Advanced Comfort seats give back a very pleasant sensation of softness: they immediately welcome the driver and passengers with familiarity, effectively accompanying them even during long journeys. The on-board entertainment system has also been updated, again in the center of the dashboard but now on a 9 ”screen. Intuitive and simple, it has numerous captivating and always clearly legible functions and graphics. Winning the choice of introducing numerous physical keys, useful for quickly reaching all the menus without having to get distracted. There is also compatibility with Apple Car Play and Android Auto.
Citroën C3 Aircross: how are you doing
The Blue Hdi 110 engine showed good dynamic qualities. Although diesel is facing a particularly complicated period, it remains the best choice for those who travel many kilometers, especially on fast-flowing sections. The engine has thus proved to have excellent fluidity and reactivity: at low revs, the thrust is sufficiently bright to move with ease in the city or overtake in safety; reached cruising speed, it quietens, becoming little noisy and linear. The operation of the six-speed manual gearbox is also convincing, with adequate lever travel, a rather soft clutch pedal and precise gearshifts and downshifts. It is a scheme designed to offer a serene and relaxed drive, qualities that belong to C3 Aircross and that make it a versatile family car suitable for wide and intense use.
C3 Aircross 2021: consumption surprise
The route covered of about 70 km developed both on fast-flowing sections and in mixed: at the end of the ride, the on-board computer recorded an average consumption of just over 18 km / liter. A definitely positive value, with peaks over 20 km / liter at 110 km / h. The guide proved to be pleasant and intuitive; the structure is not sophisticated and this makes it a very easy car to drive, managing to create a winning understanding with the driver in a short time. Solid on the road, the mode switch is an addition that allows you to tackle some off-road sections with greater confidence. This is a useful solution for those who often travel on short dirt roads or go to the mountains seasonally during the winter. Nothing more than a system which, depending on the selected program, distributes the torque on the front axle to offer greater grip and traction. Citroën C3 Aircross is not available in any configuration with all-wheel drive. Braking was good, the car never gave the feeling of being in difficulty even in emergency situations. The range of driving assistance systems is very rich, which now integrates a new generation head-up display, which manages to offer navigation information in a very clear way, always being clearly legible.
Citroën C3 Aircross 2021: strengths and weaknesses
Like it: excellent versatility; the diesel engine is the best choice for those who travel many kilometers during the year; the driving mode selector is a nice addition.
Do not like: the decision not to introduce hybrid engines is in clear contrast to the competition; the definition of the rear camera is not of good quality.
Citroën C3 Aircross remains a model recommended for those looking for a versatile, practical and comfortable car. Suitable for families, it lends itself to a wide use; the diesel engine remains the best choice for those who travel many kilometers during the year. The driving mode selector is a nice addition that allows you to face even the pitfalls of winter with greater peace of mind. On-board comfort is truly of a high level and the introduction of an updated on-board entertainment system guarantees technological integration on a par with the best of the competition.
