Leipzig – The Amur leopard, who was born three months ago in the Leipzig Zoo, is currently exploring her outdoor area. “Maju” (the sweet one) weighs around 4.5 kilograms and is extremely agile, the zoo announced on Tuesday. The little leopard still drinks milk from her mother, but also eats small portions of meat. The young big cat was the first newly born Amur leopard in Europe this year, according to the zoo, citing the European conservation breeding program. According to this, only between 100 and 250 Amur leopards currently live in the wild. This means that the animals are not only the rarest big cats, but also the rarest mammals in the world. (dpa)
