From Friday 9 July 2021 the first season of La cuoca di Castamar will be available on Netflix. The TV series tells the story of tormented love between two people from different social backgrounds: the cook Clara and Diego, the Duke of Castamar. Let’s see the plot and the cast together.
Castamar’s cook is a Spanish TV series based on the novel of the same name by Fernando J. Múñez and directed by Iñaki Peñafiel is Norberto López Amado. The TV series will be available on the streaming platform of Netflix starting from Friday 9 July.
The series was streamed in premiere in February 2021 on the platform Atresplayer Premium and was televised on Antena 3 to June 2021, where the last episode was followed by 1.4 million of spectators.
Castamar’s cook: the plot
The events told by the TV series take place in Madrid, in 1720, and tell the story of Clara Belmonte, a cook agoraphobic who starts working at the Castamar cuisine.
Clara is trying to escape from her own past, marked by the painful death of his father, accused of betrayal. Here he falls in love with Diego, the Duke of Castamar, who reciprocates his love. Unfortunately for the two lovers it will not be easy to be together because of the different social class to which they belong.

In fact, Diego’s mother, Mercedes woman, she wants her son to marry there noble Amelia Castro, in such a way as to guarantee the duchy of the noble heirs. But it doesn’t stop there: Enrique de Arcona, Marquis de Soto, in addition to helping Donna Mercedes in her aim, elaborates a plan to take revenge by Diego.
Actors and characters
The protagonist Clara Belmonte is interpreted by Michelle Jenner, while Roberto Enrìquez plays the role of Diego de Castamar.
Hugo Silvia plays the role of Enrique de Arcona, Marquis of Soto, while Fiorella Faltoyano interprets Mercedes woman.
