This new Netflix bet takes us back to September 22, 2013, when Asunta Basterra, of Chinese origin, was found dead in La Coruña, a victim of the murder perpetrated by her adoptive parents. Despite being convicted, Rosario Porto and Alfonso Basterra never admitted her guilt, and her mother made an attempt on her own life in prison in 2020.
The official synopsis that Netflix presents to us is the following: “On September 21, 2013, Rosario Porto and Alfonso Basterra reported the disappearance of their daughter Asunta, whose body was found hours later next to a road on the outskirts of Santiago de Compostela. The police investigation soon reveals evidence that points to Rosario and Alfonso as possible perpetrators of the crime. The news shocks the entire city and even the country. What can lead parents to end their daughter's life? What is hidden behind that facade of a perfect family?”

Who is in the cast of 'The Asunta Case'?
Actors Candela Peña and Tristán Ulloa will play Rosario Porto and Alfonso Basterra in the series, however, they are not the only well-known faces that we will see in this production. Also part of the cast are Javier Gutiérrez, Carlos Blanco, María León, Francesc Orella, Alicia Borrachero and Iris Whu, among others.
The recordings were made during the summer season in Galicia, Vigo and Santiago de Compostela; exact place where the protagonists of the story resided.
