Netflix is putting in place a price increase of subscriptions in the UK and Ireland. These rate changes will affect both new subscribers and users already in possession of the streaming service.
This was announced by Netflix itself, following a trail that started from the United States, where the rates of the various types of subscriptions were revised in January. Second Deadlinethe Base plan of the streaming service, which allows viewing of non-HD content and from only one screen at a time, is preparing to switch from £ 5.99 to £ 6.99.
L’Standard subscriptionmore popular than the Base, which allows viewing of HD content and streaming 2 screens at the same time, will cost now £ 10.99compared to the previous ones £ 9.99. L’Premium subscriptionthe most complete and that allows the viewing of contents in Ultra HD and with 4 screens connected to Netflix at the same time, will have a price of £ 15.99 while previously it cost £ 13.99.
New subscribers to the service will see the increase immediately, as they are already expected to pay the adjusted rates. Current subscribers will be able to enjoy the old prices a little longer, but will soon receive a notice in inbox, in which they will be notified of the fare increase. The latter will have a few weeks to adapt, similar to what happened last year in Italy.
The streaming giant reported:
Members currently [abbonati al nostro servizio] they will receive an email notification 30 days before the price increase, unless they decide to change their plan [nel qual caso l’aumento sarà immediato].
Regarding the price increase, Netflix has explained:
The price increase will allow the streamer to continue investing in the best British productions, and we will be able to offer a wide variety of great quality shows and films.
These price increases could also involve Netflix Italy? It cannot be excluded that, starting from the United States, the variation in tariffs will expand like wildfire. However, a few months have passed since the previous increase and, at the moment, there is no information on another change in the price.
Very successful productions, of the caliber of The Witcher And Vikings: Valhalla (of which Season 2 and Season 3 have been announced), have the set in Ireland or the UK. As for Disney +’s decision to offer a cheaper but ad-supported pricing plan, Netflix said it does have no intention to do the same. The service has always been free from any kind of advertising, and the company is keen to continue on this path.
