Netflix fires another 300 employees after the 150 in May, the streaming giant’s anti-crisis move

Netflix fires another 300 people. After sending 150 employees home just a month ago, now the giant of streaming continues with its staff reduction strategy to try to cope with its darkest moment.

According to the American weekly The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix would have announced the 3% cut of the workforce, equal to about 300 people. Most of the staff involved, 216 people, would be in the US; 53 would be the cuts in the EMEA area, 30 in the Asia Pacific area and 17 in Latin America.

In a message sent to the staff, Reed Hastings And Ted Sarandosco-CEO of Netflix, they would have declared that they were sorry that they had not been able to understand earlier the slowdown in revenues which would have allowed a gradual reorganization of the activities. However, at the same time the investments: within the next 18 months the workforce is expected to grow by 1.5 thousand to 11.5 thousand.

The title in Bag of the company has fallen by 67% in the last 6 months, from € 527.40 per share to a price of € 174 per share. The problem, essentially, is one: the sudden drop in subscribers. In numbers, we are talking about about 200,000 people “escaped” from the platform in a single quarter.

But the predictions for the next are even more dire: some experts have in fact hypothesized that, also because of the conflict between Russia and Ukrainethe streaming platform it could even lose 2 million users. In short, if already before Netflix was in its darkest period, these new staff cuts will only lead to new shadows on the company’s accounts.
