Nestor Lorenzo is an experienced soccer man, who this Thursday was appointed as coach of the Colombian national team replacing Reinaldo Rueda.

Lorenzo knows the environment wellcolombian soccerwell He was part of the coaching staff of Argentine José Pekerman, who led the National Team in the qualifiers and the 2014 and 2018 World Cups.
He was born in Villa Celina, Buenos Aires, on February 28, 1966, and made his debut as a player in 1985, when he was part of Argentinos Juniors.
As a footballer he had an important career and for 13 years he stood out for being an effective defender. Lorenzo retired in 1998, when he was defending the colors of Quilmes.
As a player, he was part of teams such as San Lorenzo de Almagro, Ferrocarril Oeste, Boca Juniors and Quilmes.
He had the option of playing abroad, as he was part of Bari, which at the time was playing in the Italian first division.
He was also in England, where he was part of Swindon Town, where he stood out for his defensive security.
His performance was so effective that he had the option of being part of the Argentine National Team, with which he was runner-up in the 1990 World Cup.

As a coach, he has been an assistant to the Argentine youth team between 2000 and 2002, he went to Leganés in Spain, then to Toluca and Tigres, both in Mexico, and the aforementioned time in the Colombian National Team alongside Pekerman.
He was also fortunate to be an assistant to the Argentine senior team between 2004 and 2006.
When contacted by Colombian leaders, Lorenzo was in charge of Melgar from Arequipa, Peru, a team he arrived at in December 2020.
