Nestor Lorenzo He doesn’t trust anything. The 5-1 of the Colombia selection about the United States last Saturday in a friendly game leaves him calm, but not confident and facing the friendly game against Bolivia, next Saturday, already America Cup.
In the lot
Likewise, he warned that his team is not a favorite to win the Cup, but that it does want to be on the side of Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay, the greats in this area of the world.
The Colombian team will begin its participation in the Copa América on Monday, June 24 against the Paraguayan team, in a match that will take place in Houston, United States. Lorenzo spoke clearly.
What did the game against the United States leave you?
In the first minutes the pieces are falling into place. We played, in general terms, a good game. We are playing, suddenly, against a team with which there is not a four-goal difference. The field was narrow and they pressed us in the first half. In the second half the game opened up and everything was a little easier for us.
Is what you saw on the field what you want from your group?
Each match is a different story, each rival is a different problem that must be prepared and overcome. The match had moments of difficulty, because we received crosses from the side, but we were fair winners. We are in a process and in each game we try to improve everything. The spirit of the team is not to settle for what is achieved, but to improve every day.
What roster will you use against Bolivia?
There’s a week left and we’ll see. We take that time to balance and avoid players with muscle problems. Let’s see how it evolves and see which team comes out against Bolivia.
Lionel Messi gave Colombia as a favorite for the Copa América, do you agree?
We are good and we are going game by game. I don’t think we are the favorites. Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay are strong teams and we want to be in that group, in the group of the great champions, but we still have a long way to go.
Do you see the group with good rhythm for the Copa Ritmo a la Copa?
The team played a good game, but we were lacking in finishing, although that seems crazy, since five goals were scored. We failed many passes and determinations. We are in the preliminary phase of a Cup and we are working on the physical aspect.
What did you want to do with the changes?
It’s always easier in the second half because the game opened up and there was already a difference. I appreciate how the players entered, the field was more feasible to make a difference. Those who played in the first half had less space, since there was more intensity and those who entered had more spaces. There is a lot of improvement to be made and we are going to try to correct it. That’s why we sometimes change the system.
